I would definitely recommend Santa Barbara BBQ for your event or wedding! Even though they are caterers (and they do take food seriously), Sidney and Jessica went above and beyond to help us along in our wedding planning journey. They suggested venues (and ultimately helped us find a magical spot in Ojai), shared photos of hairstyles from other brides, made recommendations for how we could keep prices down, and helped us figure out the perfect layout for the table. Both my mom and I were planning this from out of town, so we had more questions than most. Sidney always made us feel like she had time for us and our ideas and Jessica couldn't have been more organized and responsive.They catered both the Friday night and Saturday night event (and even did a perfect smaller lunch for us as we were getting ready for the wedding). The food was delicious! They use fresh and local ingredients and were happy to work with us to make the menus exactly what we wanted. Friday night was particularly stunning-- the pulled pork and grilled peaches were truly memorable. And if you have them do your wedding, I would definitely recommend the strawberry shortcake instead of just a traditional wedding cake. Yum!The food is delicious and you will truly love working with Sidney and her team!

SBB was wonderful to work with from beginning to end. Sidney is sweet and very knowledgable and helpful. She recommended a lot of other vendors and was familiar with our venue. She helped me put together a perfect menu for our tasting and our wedding because she really listened to what my now husband and I like and made suggestions to make sense for us. She was also very considerate of cost considerations, and, though we ended up choosing the more expensive options almost across the board (Who can turn down short ribs, a cheese station, and a s'mores station??), she always suggested cheaper alternatives to items I was interested in and offered cost cutting options with regards to staffing. Our tasting was amazing...the food was fantastic and Sidney even dug out a bottle of wine for us to have!Once we really got to the planning phase, Jessica mostly took over our account. I felt like I had a second wedding planner! Not only did she give suggestions for our menu, she also worked with the rentals vendor on my behalf, attended a venue visit, and gave countless ideas and insight for many details of my wedding having nothing to do with the food! Jessica was truly a godsend for me!The day of went off without a hitch. The food was just as good as it had been at the tasting. It's so hard to cook for so many people and many caterers can't live up to the tasting, when they were cooking for 2 or 4.

SBB Gourmet Catering in Santa Barbara is a tremendous company and caterer. If there were ten stars available, I would give them that. Well managed, thoughtful, a blast to work with, always put our interests and concerns first, and delivered an absolutely incredible event for us two Saturday's ago. The food was what made the event most special as our 225 guests raved about it, but the service was also impeccable. The staff was conscientious, drop dead gorgeous in appearance and neatness, and did what a good service should do...they were always there but invisible. We worked with Sidney the owner of the company and her team from day one over a five month period and they were never too busy to take our calls or respond to even the most seemingly trivial email. They actually were saviors in many ways; one in particular being "picking up loose ends" where our event planner and the venue manager dropped the ball. We conducted a rather exhaustive search of other caterers in the area and interviewed the majority of others even tasting their food before selecting SBB Gourmet Catering which proved to be worthwhile. We could not have been more pleased with our final selection. If you have any kind of event coming up, my family highly recommends this caterer. They are real food people, know what white glove service means, and they carry through with their promises. In closing, one final testimonial to the company is that they made my wife and daughter (the bride) and the groom's family incredibly happy as the event and days immediately before were essentially worry-free due to the impeccable planning and hand-holding the company does and Sidney's personal touch. This gal has real class and a great sense for this business and customer service. Call her!!!!

SBB Gourmet Catering did a wonderful Job!! Sidney made all the details flow together so beautifully last week for Kasey and Skye's wedding.It was so much more than I could have imagined.My guests were treated so well by the staff and everyone felt the magic....that was created.I cannot express my gratitude enough....I sit this week knowingthat meeting Sidney was suppose to happen....on many levels. Shemade this "wedding planning" experience a delight for me.Blessings to Sidney and her staff as they continue their work....that brings JOY toso many people.I am a very happy MOB!!!! SBB Catering was absolutely amazing! We met with several different caterers but SBB stood out in both food and professionalism. When meeting with the various caterers we informed them of some concerns we had with the dinner logistics at our venue and SBB was the only caterer that took the time to do a site visit to our venue to make sure that they were providing us with an accurate quote and recommendations on the flow of the event. They were also extremely helpful with recommending other vendors and handled all of the logistics for our rentals. Can’t say enough good things about these guys, absolute pleasure to work with!

We honestly can’t say enough about our experience with SBB Gourmet. We are a couple who take our food VERY seriously, and our friends and family feel the exact same way. So picking our caterer and our menu for our wedding was one of the most important decisions to make once we started planning the event. And WOW – did we make the right decision. Sidney just got us - and the feeling we were trying to create for our wedding - right off the bat, which made the whole process nothing but pure, unadulterated FUN. And the food... Oh, the food!!! Everything was hot, fresh, beautifully prepared, and INCREDIBLY delicious. We were amazed and overwhelmed at the quality of the food – it felt like we were dining at a four-star restaurant, instead of at an outdoor buffet on a VERY cold night.SBB Gourmet exceeded all of our expectations, and helped make our wedding more special than we could have imagined. From the food to the staff — who were as just amazing as the cuisine — we could not have asked for a better experience. Or better food, for that matter! Sidney, Bia and the whole SBB crew deserve the highest marks in every category. We actually signed on with SBB rather late in the game - but I feel we got the quality of service and attention to detail that develops over a long time.Sidney explained every last detail to us and was extremely helpful in guiding us through our decisions. Every minute of our day, our catering and our rentals occurred exactly as projected....and the FOOD! Oh my goodness, the food was incredible! Sidney helped us pick a menu that really matched our tastes and those of our guests. Everything tasted as fresh and flavorful as it was at the tasting. The portions were generous and the service went off without a hitch! All our guests have complimented us on the food and the service - SBB really brought an element of class PLUS warmth that I really wanted for our wedding day!I just cannot say enough good things about SBB. My friends and family were blown away by the quality of the catering versus the total cost. My husband and I feel like we got a lot of bang for our buck. I came away with the feeling that SBB really cares about the quality of their service and their clients. We feel very fortunate to have had SBB recommended to us...and we would STRONGLY recommend Sidney and her staff to everyone!!

Santa Barbara BBQ Is AWESOME!!! The are so helpful and willing to just about anything under the sun to make sure your wedding is exactly what you had hoped for and better than you expected. Their food is delicious. A sophisticated bar-be-que that is cooked to perfection and displayed wonderfully. The tr-tip is delicious and the salmon cooked to perfection. The hor de'overs are delicious and plenty for all guests. But the very best part is how nice, courteous, and amiable all of these people were. The servers were beyond accommodating and Bia the manager was so great seeing all those minor details and making sure they were awesome. Also Sydney the owner, she is impressive. A true business woman and my dad loved her; a definite testiment to her ability to run a successful business.

I can’t say enough glowing things about Sidney and the staff at SBB Gourmet Catering. They were recommended to us by the event coordinator at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum, where we had our wedding. After meeting with three different catering companies, tasting food, and getting estimates, it was clear that SBB Gourmet was the right choice for us. We were really impressed with Sidney, who was friendly and approachable and full of good ideas, but also really invested in providing the kind of menu and service WE wanted. She always took our input seriously, even changing our salad to include local heirloom beets, which are my husband’s favorite. She was incredibly helpful when it came to picking out rentals and nailing down the details of how food service would be handled. She was open and supportive of all our non-traditional ideas, and helped us put everything together. We were also really impressed with Ryan, the Events Manager, who was really on top of his game. He was indispensable during the walk through and set up, and made sure everything looked exactly how we had discussed.The night of our wedding it was obvious we made the perfect choice. The SBB Gourmet staff took excellent care of us and our families. They gave my dad (aka, the father of the bride!) a pre-ceremony appetizer because he was hungry. Also, my mom was recovering from surgery and couldn’t walk very much, so one of the servers, Hannah, brought my mom coffee and dessert to the table before they were even available on the buffet! That is what I call great service and attention to detail!! Our guests unanimously agreed that it was the best wedding food that they had ever had, raving about the vegetarian Wellington and the crème brulee in particular. The food was delicious, the servers impeccable, and the overall atmosphere exactly what we discussed.SBB Gourmet helped us make our wedding exactly as we imagined it. Thank you!

Sidney and Bia at SBB Gourmet Catering were wonderful to work with from beginning to end. Not only were they highly professional but the food and service was outstanding. One month later and we are still receiving comments about how great the food was!

Nice lady but disorganized

We were going to use SBB Gourmet Catering for our rehearsal dinner. But they dropped us three weeks before the event when a bigger payday came calling.We initially had a nice meeting with Sydnie to go over our menu. Originally, the meeting was supposed to be a tasting, but when we arrived Sydnie told us some of their staff had showed up so a tasting wasn't possible. Although we had traveled from Los Angeles (and my parents were visiting from Washington), we gave them the benefit of the doubt and made the most of the meeting. We picked out a menu to get a quote and left with a good feeling.After getting quotes from several other caterers, we decided on SBB. My mother was planning the rehearsal dinner so she was in regular contact with Sydnie. They finalized a menu, had regular phone calls, and my mother mailed a check to SBB. Then, three weeks before our rehearsal dinner, my mother received an e-mail from SBB -- not even a phone call -- saying that one of their corporate clients had a scheduled event the night of our rehearsal dinner and that they would be doing that event instead of ours. They dropped us. My mother called Sydnie and tried to get an explanation, and while Sydnie expressed regret at losing our business, she made it quite clear that she was more interested in receiving the bigger payday than honoring the commitment they had made to cater our event. It's not the right way to do business. While we were lucky enough to end up with another excellent caterer, we could have been left without. I can't express strongly enough my disgust at SBB's behavior. If you are considering using SBB for your event, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Their business practices are poor, and they show no hesitation in dropping an event they have committed to when a bigger opportunity arises.
